Welcome, everyone!

On Saturday, January 30th, Team 2220 kicked off a huge Build-a-thon! From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., a few members of the team made use of the school’s workshops and graphics lab to really crank it up.

The rest of the team came in at 1 p.m. and worked until 5 p.m. Dinner was kindly provided by parents and much junk food was consumed. Thank you parents!

The Construction sub-team finished building the goals for the field. Only a few more things need to get done, and then the field should be ready for the mini-regional.

The Kicker sub-team used their design to start building their kicker. Long hours were spent putting CADD designs into practice as the group figured out what it took to get the piston to work.

Keep sending us good thoughts!

PostHeaderIcon PROGRESS!

Welcome, everyone!

Our week has been good so far! On Thursday, 28th, all the sub teams reported their progress.

The Lifter group has established a design, prototyped the winch system, ordered metal for the build, finished CADDing their design and has calculated the proper motor speed and torque to select the right motor for moving the telescope.

The Kicker group has CADDed their design, ordered and received the parts they need to build and is in the process of building their prototype.

The Construction group, with the help of parents from last Saturday, is done building the bumps and the towers for the field. They started building goal chains and the backboard of the goals with the target sign.

The Electronics and Programming group has built the show robot. After programming in both C++ and Java, and comparing the two, they decided to program the real robot in Java.

And now presenting, the individual students;

Tim is in charge of programming, electronics and CADD. He is working on writing the robot’s code and downloading it to the CRIO, the robots brain. He is also working on the drive train.

Alex J. is currently working on getting the CADD done for the chassis and the wheel plates.

Dan and Paul, who are working on the kicker sub-group, are busy putting all the pieces together to create a working kicker for the robot. The kicker uses a pneumatic system.

Hunter, a member of the web team, is working on installing a calendar on the website. He and others are also making sure that everything is linking up properly, first on a test website and then on the original website.

Check back for more updates!

PostHeaderIcon Welcome to a new week!

Another successful meeting! Tuesday January 26 was day one of week three! And we’re still going strong, marching on towards the Regional competition. For a quick change of pace, an update on our non-build-type teams!

The Web team has been doing well as they alter a web template to create a new website for Team 2220. Other parts of the team have been busy creating content to load to the site, and if you’re reading this blog, look at the beauty all around! Hip-hip-hooray to the web team!

Also, the Marketing team has been on a full gallop. A new team this year, Team 2220’s Marketing Sub-Group’s goal is to create and act out a marketing plan. It would allow us to present ourselves to the world in a professional yet friendly manner. Plans are simplistic and easy but going strong as we land on a new shore. Fight-O, Marketing! Make it all real pretty!

Media, ever present at all team meetings, events, and fundraisers, is still clicking away on a camera for the online albums and collecting plenty of footage to create fantastic videos. This year’s videos are looking great; short, to the point and full of cool team shots. Our Media has out done itself so far and we’re looking forward to more! Keep ‘em coming!

Thanks as always for your support!

PostHeaderIcon Parents Build A Field!

YO!

Saturday’s meeting is nothing but work, work, work! And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Today, January 23rd , lots of team parents volunteered and started cutting the wood needed to build the field for this years game, Breakaway. Team 2220, as we have for several years, will hold a mini-regional event for any team who wishes to participate.
